Welcome to The Lemon Room

Since my diagnosis and treatment for breast cancer I’ve found myself holding the light for those behind me, listening, sharing my experience, learning from other’s experiences. During treatment I posted a blog for my friends and family. It gave me a forum for my voice and them a way to stay in contact with me. I’ve posted the salient passages here, along with a page of my favorite links, and some tips I learned and absorbed through others.

This is by no means the be all and end all, nor should it be construed as the perfect answers for you and your future. It is merely a record of my journey and thoughts, my likes and dislikes, my friends recommends and my own little mischiefs. If you have links you would like to include, please email me, if you have suggestions or ideas, wants or desires, please again, do the same as the more “real people” information there is the better. In case you didn’t notice, my email is sari@thelemonroom.com.

Each of you is your own personal test tube, and you will have to find through trial and error what works for you. Some people need lots of action and activity, some need to hibernate and be reborn, some need their faith, some need retail therapy, some need a hug. There is no right or wrong, t here is only the requirement that you understand who you are and what you need, that you make choices that work for you and only you. The rest be damned. Many people questioned my decisions along the way, but they work for me and keep me alive and healthy and happy. Success in my book. Find what works for you and cling to it with all your might.

Many thanks for my gift of a healthy life, to my doctors and nurses, the researchers, the drug companies. Most importantly to Brian my beloved husband, Tommy my sterling fellow, my family and friends, thank you for holding me afloat and filling me with love and joy and millions of reasons for being here. LEP and AGJ, you are and will ever be my touchstones and guards. Thank you all.

I’ve shared my story for years, and each time I send off an email or hang up the phone, I think. This is the last one, this is the last person who will have to face this daunting challenge. Each time I’m wrong as this malicious and cruel invader continues to find fresh targets. The time is now, fight back, make noise, get attention, refuse to be a wallflower. We must be heard, we must be treated and cured, we must live our long, healthy, happy lives.

Blessings of good health and laughter to all,

Sari
